HILLCREST BAPTIST CHURCH

of WINSTON-SALEM

WHO ARE WE?

Hillcrest Baptist Church of Winston-Salem was started in 1960 in a small building on South Main St. at the crest of the hill north of its current location. Pastor Buddy Tuttle and other churches help in it’s start. The church soon bought a building down the hill beside the creek, along with a house that was there. The old building was demolished and a new building was built that is now our fellowship center.

Pastor Buddy Tuttle was followed by Dr. Barney Frasier of Piedmont Bible College. Dr. Frasier was followed by Pastor E.W. Parks in June of 1966 and he remained Pastor for 42 years and upon his retirement. This was then followed by Pastor Tim Day in August of 2008. Pastor Day remained until his death on August 8th 2017, after a long battle with cancer.

Pastor Bobby Smith, who was already a member of the church and had a history with the church dating back to 1970, was asked to take the pastorate on an interim basis after the death of Pastor Day. After being interim pastor for over a year, Pastor Smith was called as permanent pastor. He has remained the pastor to the present date.
